JAMES CUNNINGHAM
 |
After graduating from the University Of Toronto with an honors B.A. in
Theatre and Drama, James Cunningham
immediately established himself in Toronto's busy theatre community.
It wasn't long however before he was attracted to the world of standup
comedy. After a few performances on amateur night he skyrocketed
onto the professional scene and rapidly made a name for himself across
Canada as a headliner. His standup combines sharp, fast-paced one
liners with dazzling charisma.
In 1998, he was featured at the Molson Canadian Toronto Comedy Festival on
the "Rising Stars Of Comedy" show. Shortly thereafter, he could be seen on
several national TV commercials for the likes of Bell Canada, Ikea, London
Telecom and Wilson Laboratories.
Shooting the pilot episode of a new sitcom for YTV turned into a lead role
as Mr. Emotek on the hit series "System Crash". He is also very
active in Toronto's sketch and improv scene and is a favorite with casting
agents across Canada. He has appeared in numerous theatrical productions
including "Trail By Shakespeare", "The Boyfriend", "The Ghost In
Parliament" and "Rimers Of Eldridge". James is also a major
participant in community events and charity functions throughout Canada.
Additionally, his motivational humor-based lectures to students have
garnered rave reviews from coast to coast.
After a tour of the U.K. early in 1999, he was featured on "Open Mike with
Mike Bullard" and is currently preparing for his first "Comedy Now" comedy
special for the Comedy Network/CTV. Presently, James is writing and
producing a play for his own theatre company and touring extensively.
Combining his knowledge of the stage and his experience as a standup
comedian, James has become one of Canada's foremost corporate performers,
having entertained for Baton Broadcasting, Proctor & Gamble, Boy Scouts Of
Canada, Mandel Scientific and Landscape Ontario. His personalized
presentation has brought laughter to every type of event and function
imaginable.
